Cape Town - Children are expected to go all out to make their mothers feel special on Mother’s Day on Sunday – but what if her treat came with a R1 million price tag?

The Taj Hotel in Cape Town is offering exactly that, a Mom in a Million package to celebrate. And it costs a cool R1m.

The offer is open to only one mom and her family but, as of Wednesday afternoon, there weren’t any takers for the first-time deal.

While some would understandably gasp at the price tag, it is designed to make mom look and feel like a million dollars.

Taj marketing director Willie Williams said the weekend experience was created to honour the most important women in people’s lives, and was designed to be the ultimate expression of what the Mother City could offer moms in appreciation for all they have done.

The package includes two first-class airfare tickets from anywhere in the world to Cape Town. A hotel chauffeur will be available to the family for the duration of the weekend.

The family will stay in the penthouse suite with glorious views, two bedrooms, a formal dining area, a large study, a personal exercise room, spa treatment room and steam room.

The weekend is launched with a personal consultation for mom with designers from Kluk CGDT. She can choose two outfits, and get her hair done. This is followed by a gourmet dinner for the family.

The next day she will be whisked away to visit a jewellery designer, and be given R10 000 towards a design of her choice. The rest of the weekend includes private helicopter rides, spa treatments and excellent food.

Her Mother’s Day experience will end on the Sunday at the hotel’s presidential suite, where eight guests will be hosted for lunch.

The party will have a private chef, butler and photographer at its beck and call.
