London - It’s one way to make sure you never have piles of washing-up after a meal.

A revolutionary machine takes flour and water – and turns them into bread plates and bowls which you simply eat after enjoying the food.

The edible crockery can safely hold any kind of food, including soups, according to its creator.

Student Saeed Rahiminejad, 26, said his Bake.A.Dish invention has endless possibilities as its two-part, shape-shifting mould makes bread bowls and plates of many shapes and sizes.

The machine can even be controlled by a cellphone application which calculates the size of the crockery based on how many calories the diner needs.

Rahiminejad, who is studying industrial design in Tehran, Iran, claims to have made the bread plates strong and suitable for liquids but refused to reveal details.

“The product is aiming at personalising your dinnerware, making a more sustainable alternative to disposable dinnerware and adding a fix of fibre to one’s daily diet,” he said.

“By customising the size of the food dishes according to one’s needs and adding a controlled amount of fibre and carbohydrates to the diet, it promises healthier eating.

“You also get to eat hot, fresh baked goods whenever you want. The energy needed comes from solar panels and the water used for baking is less than that used to wash dishes. That makes Bake.A.Dish a good sustainable solution and ultimately is fun.”

The device is a contender for the Electrolux Design Lab 2014 awards. Rahiminejad is looking for funding to put it into production. - Daily Mail
