How about a caketail?

London - What could make a sugary cupcake covered in butter-icing even more sinful? How about a generous slug of alcohol?

British cake-makers Jill Collins and Natalie Saville have created a range of “caketails” - cupcakes which taste like cocktails.

Each is based on a popular cocktail and the cake mixes are laced with spirits and liqueurs.

Sex On The Beach, for example, is made with butter, sugar, eggs, flour, dried cranberries and a measure of vodka and peach schnapps.

The Strawberry Daiquiri caketail has white rum and chopped strawberries, while the Peppermint Penguin is doused in Crème de Menthe and Baileys.

The Bellini caketail has champagne in the icing and, for Christmas, there’s a Mulled Wine caketail with cinnamon, cloves, orange zest, brandy and Grand Marnier.

The cakes can be bought from thegreatlittlecake company.co.uk, or, if you’d like to try baking your own there’s a recipe book Caketails: Intoxicating Cupcakes For Grown-Ups, available on amazon.co.uk. - Daily Mail
