London - If you believe her former household help, Nigella Lawson has never made a cup of tea in her life – let alone wash it up.
Yet here she is – sporting heavy-duty orange rubber gloves – having a jolly good try. And she was apparently so pleased to be tinkering with cleaning products that she shared the photo with her 667 000 followers on Twitter.
However, it has to be said the millionairess author of How To Be A Domestic Goddess isn’t in her own kitchen, which no doubt boasts the most expensive dishwasher money can buy.
Instead she is scrubbing a mug in her trailer on the set of US TV show The Taste, which features Miss Lawson as a judge. Alongside was a caption in which Miss Lawson sighed: “Oh, the glamour! Washing up in my trailer @TheTasteABC #thetaste #LoveTheGloves #Orange”.
But few will have believed she was slaving over a tub of hot suds, taking note of her dressing gown and immaculate make-up, all of which suggest she has been pampered for the cameras.
Last year Miss Lawson’s former personal assistants the Grillo sisters, who were cleared of credit card fraud against her and her ex-husband Charles Saatchi, claimed they had never seen their former boss make a mince pie and that she occasionally hired caterers to cook celebratory meals.
For her part, Miss Lawson, 54, does not claim to maintain a “goddess” image behind closed doors, occasionally tweeting photos of her fast-food indulgences. - Daily Mail
