Catharina’s Restaurant at Steenberg is one of Cape Town’s little jewels when it comes to eating out.

Where else can you enjoy a delicious 5-star 3 course meal for under R200?

The portion sizes are very impressive and a total value for money. We just want to go back for some more delicious winter warmer specials.

The interior décor is beyond beautiful with a warm fireplace that sets the mood!

We definitely suggest Catharina’s for hosting your next event or spending time with your girlfriends or family.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MENU…

STARTERS

West Coast Mussels in White wine & Curry cream sauce with Coriander. Perfect as a winter warmer paired with Steenberg Semillon 2012 which has aromas of dried apricots, peaches and vanilla.

Mushroom Tart. The tart had a delicious medley of mushrooms that was complemented with the balsamic reduction.

Chicken & Noodle Soup. We paired this winter warmer with the Steenberg Savignon Blanc 2014. The Sauvignon Blanc is full in flavour combining notes of passion fruit, ruby grapefruit and freshly cut grass.

 

MAINS

Free Range Chicken Supreme with roasted masala and curried lentils, spinach and cubed carrots. We paired this main with the Steenberg Nebbiolo 2012 – a gorgeous medium bodied red wine with soft oaky notes – a beautiful wine for white meat dishes.

Sustainable Fish with cashew, chili & coriander crust, bubble & squeak, sautéed spinach and Asian sweet chili salsa. "A real surprise as fish can often be rather boring – this was tangy and extremely tasty. Paired with Steenberg Savignon Blanc 2014 with hints of passion fruit and citrus – perfect with seafood," says Sarene Kloren, Editor.

Braised Beef Short Rib Rib with beetroot risotto, roasted baby beets, fine beans and coffee jus.

"The beetroot risotto had everything you want in a proper risotto and it was perfectly creamy! It worked fantastic with the short ribs. This was paired with the Steenberg Shiraz, it made for an amazing dining experience," Jamal, Entertainment Editor

 

DESSERTS

Milk Tart Brulee with Rooibos Jelly.

Sticky Chocolate Pudding with Amarula ice cream and walnut caramel sauce.

Orange Panna Cotta with blackberry sorbet, orange jelly and white chocolate sauce.
