London - A new study has revealed that women are not interested in dating a man with no job.

Dating website, It’s Just Lunch, surveyed 925 men and women and found that a 75 percent of women were turned off by unemployment.

Of the 75 percent, only 33 percent staunchly refused to entertain the notion of dating a guy with no job, signalling perhaps that these women were concerned mostly with how much money is in the bank.

But a generous 43 percent said they would consider seeing someone who was unemployed if getting a job was a priority in the near future.

A mere 21 percent responded to the survey by saying they didn’t care and would go out with someone regardless of what their professional ambitions may be.

Men, meanwhile, were far more open-minded, with 46 percent of those participating in the survey certain they would date a woman who was out of work and 19 percent committing to having “no reservations”.

The results seem to indicate that where women have traditionally been labelled as gold-diggers, the main priority nowadays is that a guy shows at least some initiative and direction.

Women were more concerned with a man being “engaged in an activity” that one earning triple figures.

Irene LaCota of It’s Just Lunch said: “Not having a job will definitely make it harder for men to date someone they don’t already know. This is the rare area, compared to other topics we’ve done surveys on, where women’s old-fashioned beliefs about sex roles seem to apply.” – Daily Mail
