Johannesburg - Trying to fall pregnant but falling short on the timing?

Conceive Plus, makers of a sperm-friendly lubricant proven to help the process of fertilisation, have made an ovulation calendar available for women with regular and irregular menstrual cycles.

Women will also be able to examine their cervical fluid to determine their fertility status.

The five types of cervical fluids are:

Dry: with this type, you are probably not fertile;

Sticky: also probably not fertile;

Creamy: possibly fertile;

Watery: fertile, “

Egg white”: most fertile.

The fluid in the cervix changes throughout the menstrual cycle and plays an important role in reproduction, affecting libido and providing lubrication.

According to the website www.conceiveplus.com, “observing your cervical fluid can help you determine the time when your ovulation is approaching and thus allows you to determine when you are most fertile”.

To work out when your next ovulation period is, the website suggests: “Just enter the first day of your last period and how long your cycle usually lasts (anywhere from 20 to 45 days) to calculate when you’re most likely to be fertile.”
