London - When it comes to shopping, men are renowned for leaving things to the last minute.

So it may surprise no one that two thirds of them manage to buy their Christmas gifts in just three hours.

A poll of 3 000 Britons found that 23 percent of men manage to do the bulk of their Christmas shopping in an hour or less.

Of that total, three percent managed it in under ten minutes. And a further 40 percent take up to three hours.

By comparison, only 12 percent of women said they could do their Christmas shopping in an hour or less, with 35 percent taking between one and three hours. Two percent said their longest main Christmas shopping trip lasted 12 hours.

Men spend an average of £366 (about R6 400) on gifts, while women spend an average of £276 with 76 percent of all those polled by QVC doing the majority of their shopping online.

The average spent on Christmas, including dinner, drinks and festive socialising, is £832. - Daily Mail
