London - Men are more sympathetic than women when their partner has a cold, a survey suggests.

A study of 2 000 people found men’s patience with a suffering partner lasts for 19 hours – but women can deal with it for only 16 hours.

The man of the house is also less likely than the woman to become tired of their partner “overreacting about their illnesses”.

However, the research found men do act as if their cold and flu symptoms are worse than they really are, with more than 40 percent confessing to “playing up their symptoms” to get attention.

The survey, commissioned by Nurofen Cold and Flu, also found 77 percent of women said they simply just get on with it when they have a cold. - Daily Mail
