London - A designer watch, a trip to the Maldives and owning your own home are must-haves on the average person’s ‘bucket list’, a survey revealed.

Swimming with dolphins and climbing a mountain also featured in the top 40 things people would like to do before they die, along with floating in the Dead Sea and taking in the view from the Empire State Building.

Owning a holiday home abroad topped the list but there were less materialistic wishes too.

Almost a third of the 2 000 people polled were keen to learn another language while others hoped to master a musical instrument. Some aimed to write a novel and 60 percent simply wanted good health.

One in three said ensuring they could leave their children with a property or good inheritance was their biggest goal. But 48 percent of those still working worry they have not saved enough.

The study, by Engage Mutual, found the average person has 16 ambitions for life. But 60 percent believe they will never complete their list – perhaps due to work-life balance, which more than a third felt they had got wrong.

The top ten dreams were to have a holiday home abroad, learn a language, travel to the Maldives, buy a house, swim with dolphins, drive on Route 66, ride in a hot-air balloon, see the Egyptian pyramids, visit a casino in Las Vegas and take a trip to Venice. - Daily Mail
