London - You might think a diverse mix of people is the key to a harmonious workplace.

But men and women are actually happier in single sex offices, a study has found.

Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology analysed an employee survey from a US-based company with 60 offices, some of which were single sex.

Overall, employees who worked only with their own gender reported being happier.

The study said men preferred not having to “walk on eggshells” in the presence of the opposite sex, while women felt more comfortable away from the “testosterone-fuelled atmosphere” of mixed offices. - Daily Mail
