London - She turned 40 on April 17, but Victoria Beckham’s latest eccentric health and exercise regimes reveal that her appetite for reinvention is greater than ever.

As she approached the milestone birthday, the former Spice Girl resorted to ever more astonishing fads and treatments to keep her fit and slim.

Friends say that despite her slender figure, Victoria is overwhelmed by a fear of developing cellulite and has started using a bizarre system called HYPOXI, which involves working out on an exercise bike encased in an egg-shaped pod.

The machine uses a vacuum technique to increase blood flow to the lower half of the body, which its creators claim helps burn fat and reduce cellulite.

As a special treat alongside her strict diet of steamed white fish and vegetables, she snacks on frozen grapes, which she claims have the taste and texture of ice cream.

And Posh has also become a devotee of “treadmill dancing”, which involves doing dance moves, jumping, skipping and lunging for up to an hour on a treadmill.

Certainly Victoria has never been more successful - she is increasingly recognised as a leading fashion designer and her first shop is due to open this autumn in London’s Mayfair. At the same time, she is slavishly revising every detail of a new shoe collection.

“Victoria’s career success means she’s more secure than she’s ever been,” said a source. “She’s never felt sure of herself in the past but now she’s a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.”

While her career is going from strength to strength, husband David is said to be bored after retiring from football last year, and has been spending more time in Florida as he tries to tries to get his plans for a new team and stadium in Miami off the ground. A source said: “The power balance has shifted because career-wise, she now has the upper hand for the first time.” - Daily Mail
