London - It was once rare to find a man who loved to use moisturiser and fake tan.

But there are now so many “metrosexuals” – men who take a keen interest in their looks – that the category should be split into four, a study says.

Image-conscious men should now be classed as one of Mr Mandrogynous, Mr Mainstream Moustache, Metro-Dude or The Remantic, according to men’s grooming firm Braun, after celebrities such as footballers David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo led the trend for a new interest in male personal grooming.

Mr Mandrogynous was described as a narcissist who is “buffed and supremely preened”, enjoying regular spray tans and trips to the gym so they can “look in the mirror and feel good because they are so buff.”

Mr Mainstream Moustache has “taken on the reinvention of the moustache as a personal project”. The moustache had previously the preserve of men in tweed, but is becoming popular again.

The Metro-Dude is someone who is “re-inventing geek-chic” while driving the country’s digital revolution.

And The Remantic is a re-born romantic who is “suave, sophisticated and high-powered”, using a big city wage to equip himself with fancy cars and bespoke suits. - Daily Mail
