Johannesburg - Bonang Matheba, known as Queen B, has done a U-turn after announcing her lingerie line Distraction would be going international.
Last week, Matheba tweeted: “Proud to announce... My lingerie collection, Bonang For Distraction, a collab with Woolworths, will launch at David Jones Department Store in AUSTRALIA in October 2015!!!! Woooohooooooo!!!”
However, the excitement was short-lived.
On Tuesday, Woolworths
said: “There has been some confusion stemming from an incorrect announcement made on Ms Bonang Matheba’s social media platforms... Ms Matheba is the South African brand ambassador of Woolworths’ lingerie line, Distraction. There are no plans to extend Bonang’s capsule collection for Distraction beyond Southern African borders.”
However, it confirmed Distraction had been available in David Jones stores in Australia since August.
Matheba made light of the situation on Tuesday: “Distraction lingerie has been in David Jones stores from July but the Bonang range is not hitting Aussi… yet.”
Matheba is a South African television host, radio personality and businesswoman. She is most recognisable for having presented the popular SABC 1 music show Live Amp.
