Durban - Runway Online, an interactive e-commerce site selling sample garments to the public, was launched by SA Fashion Week (SAFW) this month, with a sample sale from South Africa’s top designers who showed collections at SAFW.

Fashion followers will have the opportunity to purchase runway samples (standard size 34) at reduced prices, as well as collectors’ favourites from previous seasons.

Brands available at this one-off sample sale will include Black Coffee, Clive Rundle, Guillotine, Superella, Anmari Honiball, Lunar and Sies! Isabelle, to name but a few. All garments have been worn at least once by models or celebrities.

“The Runway Online Store is another way of us creating an income stream for the designers that show their Collections at SA Fashion Week,” says Lucilla Booyzen, director of SAFW.

SAFW is a dynamic platform whereby designers are introduced to various distribution channels. They are, in turn, guided to ensure maximum value and efficiency. This opportunity is further established through the company’s renowned Pop-Up Shops, their Buyers’ Lounge, as well as Fashion Wednesdays.

“From its inception, SA Fashion Week has been committed to the development of the creative fashion design industry through the designers that constitute it,” adds Booyzen.

“In order for designers to be successful, they need to plug into all relative markets from lux design to prêt-à-porter and diffusion.”
