Durban - The Pantone Fashion Colour Report for 2014 named Radiant Orchid colour of the year and this season it is flanked by feminine pastels, brights and florals.

Among those shades included in the forecast are Violet Tulip, Freesia, Sand, Paloma, Hemlock, Cayenne and Celosia Orange.

Spring wouldn’t be the same without floral colours such as Celosia Orange, which we saw a great deal of on local runways.

Black and white is holding steadfast as a continued trend, lending itself well to the sport lux look.

While athletics are influencing everything in fashion at the moment, it makes way this spring for flirty feminine forms, which include the full, long skirt; sexy white blouses and mesh-type fabrics.

Suits are a hot item for a classed-up but casual business look.

But if there’s one piece you add to your wardrobe this spring let it be the statement skirt. This is generally long, flowing and feminine and can be anything from chic black to tropical print. The best part is that it hides a multitude of sins and therefore suits every figure.

Also invest in shades and wear-with-anything sandals.
