Cape Town - Tread + Miller, a new urban footwear store that promises ‘old-world craftsmanship’ with an offering mostly for men, has opened its first shops in South Africa.
The brand, which falls under Cape Union Mart, has opened two stores, one in Woodlands Boulevard, Pretoria and another in Baywest Mall, Port Elizabeth.
Its first Cape Town store will open in Canal Walk at the end of October.
At the brand’s Cape Town launch in Devil’s Peak Brewery, Salt River last week, Kennith Barlow, Cape Union Mart’s merchandise director, said there was a gap in the market for ‘smart men’s footwear’.
Aiming to create a shopping experience that is ‘more gentlemen’s club and less standard shopping mall store’, Tread + Miller will stock brands including Crockett & Jones, Sebago, Cushe, Caterpillar, adidas, Superga, and Sperry.
It will also carry Arthur Jack, the group’s own men’s footwear label.
