Durban - Beyonce famously said that if you like it then you should put a ring on it. Although she meant just one ring on one finger, fashionistas across the world are taking it to another level.

Fashion bible Vogue has declared that the latest trend of wearing multiple rings this season is a must for every fashion lover. It said that dainty and solo pieces just won’t do it. And if the jewellery in local stores such as Lovisa and Mr Price are anything to go by, the trend is huge.

In an interview with Vogue, French jewellery designer Annelise Michelson, who has been at the forefront of this trend, said: “The more rings you have, the stronger and more personalised your style becomes.”

Her empire of rings fit like a jigsaw puzzle across your hands. Armour-like, they slot together in synchronised fashion – jagged or intriguingly bulbous.

“I like to play with the shapes and colours of my rings, mixing silver and gunmetal. It’s a modern way to wear jewellery, by having fun.”

Going for gold

When wearing this many rings in the same metal, it’s a good idea to vary the sizes and shapes to keep the look from being monotonous.

Featherweight

Try a single row of delicate metal rings for a feminine take on brass knuckles.

Epic mash-up

Mix all the stones and metals you want. Big, small, or pavé, there’s no such thing as too many gems.

Sterling reputation

Use a large statement ring to anchor your multi-ring look and add other rings in complementary colours and motifs.

Charm school

Make a big statement with a dozen-plus little nothings on fingers, neck, ears and wrists.

Short stacks

Stack smaller rings on top of each other to give them greater impact.

Playing favourites

Even ring distribution is not required to achieve an awesome multi-ring look.

Deco-a-go-go

Pile on those family heirlooms if you have them. They look fabulous together and a hell of a lot more modern than some of the trinkets that are being worn.
