London - To most people it’s madness to pay for jeans covered in holes and rips. And now the trend has got even odder with one company using tigers to tear up the trousers for them.

Zoo Jeans, a Japanese brand, creates its “distressed style” jeans by covering tyres with strips of denim before throwing them into animal compounds at Kamine Zoo in Hitachi, east Japan.

Lions, tigers and bears play with these make-shift toys, tearing up the material as desired.

The company boasts that its products are “the only jeans on earth designed by dangerous animals”. A wild claim, but the trousers’ multiple puncture marks certainly set them apart.

No prices are listed on the website, but customers are invited to bid for pairs in an auction, with the proceeds going to the zoo and to the World Wildlife Fund. - Daily Mail
