London - Forget dress-down Fridays, it’s now dress-down daily for many office-based professionals.

More than a third no longer regularly wear a suit for work, according to a survey. Staff now don anything from chinos and a jacket to T-shirt and jeans to sit behind a desk, with many putting on a two-piece suit only when they have a formal meeting.

In a survey of 1 000 professionals, 34 percent said they never wore a suit unless they are seeing clients or have an important conference. Nearly half of respondents believe that the days of wearing a suit to work are numbered, according to the research by retailer ECigaretteDirect.co.uk.

Firms in areas such as banking, insurance and law still insist on the formal look, but staff in technology companies and media organisations are among those saying what they wear makes no difference to how they work. - Daily Mail
