London - It is supposed to be one of the happiest days of their lives.

But many brides look back on their big day with regret – with a third admitting that they would change their choice of wedding dress if they could do it again.

A survey of 1 000 women found that 32 percent “cringe” when they remember their bridal outfit, and 38 percent wish they had opted for different hair or make-up.

A quarter said they would even change their engagement ring.

The poll by jeweller Vashi Dominguez found that four out of five women would change at least one element of their wedding.

The best man’s speech topped the list of regrets at 52 percent, because he made “inappropriate jokes”. Just over one in ten brides took issue with their own father’s address – the main objection being that he forgot to thank everyone.

Unsurprisingly given the British climate, a third wish they could change the weather. However 34 percent of those questioned wish they had just spent more overall.

Mr Dominguez said: “My advice to all women preparing for their wedding is to think very carefully about the ring. No one wants to be left wearing an engagement ring for 50 years which they don’t like.”

And celebrities are apparently not immune to indulging in a little wedding day revisionism. Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker has said that she regrets wearing a black dress to marry actor Matthew Broderick in 1997, while Cate Blanchett has admitted that she should have hired a photographer for her wedding to playwright Andrew Upton. - Daily Mail
