Cape Town - Want to find out more about healthy nutrition?

You could do that on Twitter with the Association for Dietetics in SA (ADSA) and IOL Lifestyle for an hour on Wednesday October 15.

@IOLlifestyle will be one of the participants in an ADSA-hosted Twitter Talk from 2pm - for an hour.

ADSA notes that South African eating habits are making us one of the most obese populations in the world. One third of all food produced in South Africa goes to waste, while more than 11 million hungry people are living without the fundamental security of regular meals, according to FoodBank South Africa.

National Nutrition Week, October 9 to 15, focuses on the slogan "Choose your portion with caution" in order to teach South Africans practical and sustainable ways of combating obesity and living a healthier life.

World Food Day, on October 16, provides an opportunity to highlight the plight of many South Africans who go hungry every day and to focus on the daily food wastage in South Africa.

The Twitter Talk provides a platform where people can share tips, ideas and thoughts around combating obesity and the issues of food security in South Africa. FoodBank South Africa and Soil For Life will be joining the conversation to share idea around curbing food wastage, sharing food and growing your own food.

* Follow the @ADSA_RD Twitter handle and hashtag #HealthyNutrition4All to join the conversation around these two nutrition extremes that exist in South Africa every day.
