London - Feasting on fish could help to keep elderly people active.

A study of more than 1 000 pensioners found that the men who ate the most animal protein were 39 percent less likely to be suffering from mental or physical decline seven years later – with fish being particularly beneficial.

Writing in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, the researchers in Japan said protein was key for building muscle to protect against falls.

However, fish may have added benefits over meat because of the high amount of omega-3 fatty acids it contains. - Daily Mail
