Reigning South African Supersport champion David 'McFlash' McFadden has been offered a wild card ride in the World Superstock 1000 race at the fifth round of the World Superbike champ[ionship at Misanmo in Italy on 10 June.

Semi-works Kawasaki outfit Team Pedercini have been following McFadden's exceptional performance in his rookie year in the SA Superbike series - three wins, a second and third in six starts, putting him well ahead on points - and when an opening arose they offered him the opportunity to test a week before the race and the ride at Misano.

The team were in fact eager to sign him for the balance of the 2012 season but budgetary constraints and SA Superbike commitments prevented that; the object of this ride is to showcase McFadden's talent to Kawasaki Europe, Team Pedercini and the international racing community, as a key to securing a World Superstock ride in 2013.

‘FUN RAISING’ ACTIVITIES

A wild card ride is the opportunity of a lifetime, but it comes at a cost, and to raise funds towards McFadden's foray into the world arena, there will be a farewell party in the upstairs section of the clubhouse at the Killarney circuit from 6pm on Tuesday 29 May. Snacks will be served at about 6.30pm and there will be a cash bar.

Chris Speight, MD of Kawasaki SA, has provided a 2012 Kawasaki ZX-10R at a nominal cost which will be raffled, and there will sponsors' regalia and other memorabilia up for grabs in an 'American auction'.
