Cape Town - For the past 11 years the 11th month of each year has been devoted to men’s health issues and the cultivating of hirsute (rather than stiff) upper lips.

This year, Harley-Davidson is joining the movement with the local initiative Snors for a Cause Motorcade 2014, aimed at raising awareness and funds for More Balls than Most. Brother initiative of PinkDrive, More Balls than Most is dedicated to promoting awareness of the importance of early detection of prostate and testicular cancer.

The Motor Company is inviting all South African riders to come together on Saturday 1 November and ride united in support of men’s health – no matter what you ride, whether it’s a pit bike, superbike, cruiser, scooter or even a trike. There will be a Snors for a Cause parade on the same day at each of South Africa’s 10 Harley-Davison dealerships:

Cape Town: Meet at Hout Bay Beach, opposite Chapmans Peak Hotel at 9.30am and ride to the dealership, 9 Somerset Road, Green Point, at 10am.

Clearwater: Meet at Ciao Baby, Cedar Square Shopping Centre at 8am and ride to the dealership, corner Rooibok and Van Vuuren Streets, Constantia Kloof, at 10.30am.

Durban: Meet at the dealership, 329 Umhlanaga Rocks Drive, Umhlanga, at 9.30am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 10am.

Johannesburg: Meet at Meet at Ciao Baby, Cedar Square Shopping Centre at 8am and ride to the dealership, 167 Rivonia Road, Sandton, at 10.30am.

Tyger Valley: Meet at the dealership, Willowbridge Centre, 39 Carl Cronje Drive, at 9.30am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 10am.

Pretoria: Meet at the dealership, Menlyn Park, corner of Atterbury Road and Lois Avenue, at 9am and ride to 162 Lynwood Road, Pretoria, at 10am.

Big Five: Meet at the dealership, corner of Madiba and Government Boulevard, Nelspruit, at 8.30am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 9.30am.

Zambezi: Meet at the dealership, 57 Lavender Road West, Annlin West, Pretoria, at 9am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 10.30am.

Gold Rand: Meet at the dealership, 38 North Rand Road, Boksburg, at 9am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 10.30am.

Bloemfontein: Meet at the dealership, corner of Markgraaf and Henry Streets, at 9am and ride a circular route back to the dealership at 10.30am.

GET REGISTERED

Anybody on a street-legal motorcycle, scooter or trike is welcome to join the Snors for a Cause Motorcade. There’s no registration fee, but you can make a donation by buying a specially printed Snors for a Cause buff for R130 on Harley-Davidson Africa’s Facebook page. A limited number of commemorative metal badges will also be available at the parades - but you’d better be there early if you want one.

Paul de Jongh, country manager of Harley-Davidson Africa, has pledged a minimum of R50 000 from his side for the fight against cancer in men. And, if you grow a truly legendary moustache during the month of November, you’ll stand a chance to win a Street 750 – Harley-Davidson’s all-new model, due to be released in South Africa early in 2015.
