When Ford's facelifted Fiesta hit the scene earlier this year, complete with its Aston Martin face and new 1.0T engine, there was one notable omission - no automatic model was available.

Now those who find their traffic burden too heavy can opt for a version fitted with Ford's PowerShift dual-clutch self-shifting gearbox.

It's available only in Trend guise and mated to a detuned version of the 1-litre, three-cylinder direct injection turbopetrol engine. In manual versions the motor makes 92kW and 170Nm but the auto model gets a 74kW/170Nm version.

However, it does boast mightily impressive fuel consumption, with Ford claiming a combined figure of 4.9 l/100km - equating to Co2 emissions of just 114g/km.

Standard features include air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system linked to steering controls and Sync voice control, dual front airbags and 15-inch alloy wheels.

The 1.0T Trend Powershift is yours for R230 800, the price including a four-year/60 000km service plan.
