Ford unveils all-new Escort concept

The Ford Escort nameplate looks to be making a comeback, at least in China.

Ford has just pulled the covers off its Escort Concept, which looks decidedly production-ready.

Sporting the very latest in Ford's design language, including that Aston Martin-like grille, Ford says it aims to offer greater choice in the growing C-segment.

But where would that leave the Focus? Our guess is that it would slot in below the Focus to offer a practical but affordable alternative.

No concrete details on the car have been released as yet, but we'd imagine they'd look at slotting Ford's new 1-litre Ecoboost turbopetrol engine under the bonnet. In the current Fiesta it makes 92kW and 170Nm.

There's also no word on whether it will be sold globally, as Ford says it was designed with the Chinese customer in mind.

Would you like to see the Escort make a comeback in South Africa?
