Mountain View, California - The Honda Accord is not exactly known for its arresting looks and that's putting it mildly, but this mid-life nip and tuck does give it a somewhat brawnier appearance.

While it doesn't magically transform the car, it might at least be a step in the right direction for those that miss the Euro-spec Accord that Honda has discontinued.

What we see here is the US spec model and we're currently awaiting word from Honda SA on whether we can expect similar changes for our Accord, although it's likely given the current version's similarity to its American counterpart.

Designers gave the front end a complete makeover and you'll see this most notably in the new grille with its large chrome strip and redesigned bumper with more curves while the back end is set apart by fresh LED taillights.

Sadly there are no turbo engines to report on as the 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.5-litre normally aspirated units carry over, but Honda has at least kept with the times inside the Accord, where it becomes one of the first cars on the market to offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built into a new seven-inch Display Audio touch-screen.

Honda also claims to offer the most comprehensive package of driver assistance technologies in its segment as part of its 'Honda Sensing' option.
