What you are looking at is the Honda NSX Concept-GT, a hybrid endurance racer based on the NSX Concept supercar, which was first shown at the Detroit motor show in January and recently completed a demo run at the Mid-Ohio circuit just before the start of the Honda-sponsored Indy 200 race.

Powered by a mid-mounted, direct-injection, two-litre turbopetrol four mated to a racing hybrid system, the competition version complies with the Japan Automobile Federation's 2014 regulations for GT500 cars, and will make its racing debut this weekend in Round 5 of the Autobacs Super GT Series, the International Pokka Sapporo 1000km.

SERIOUSLY ‘FAST AND FURIOUS’ BODY KIT

In contrast to the NSX Concept - which is the prototype of a street-legal hybrid supercar slated for production at the Honda plant in Maryville, Ohio, late in 2014 as a 2015 model - the GT has ultra-light alloy rims wearing Bridgestone Potenza competition rubber on lowered suspension and a seriously 'Fast and Furious' body including a carbon-fibre front splitter and a huge double-decker rear wing.

Honda doesn't mention of building any replicas for sale to privateer endurance-racing teams but, if it did, we at IOL Motoring would be unsurprised to hear that Vin Diesel was first in the queue.
