The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive is certainly a controversial new player in the supercar realm.

With 552kW and 1000Nm on tap, it's the most powerful AMG vehicle ever created, yet it makes very little noise and doesn't swallow a drop of fuel.

This thanks to four electric motors said to be capable of catapulting this SLS from standstill to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

But, besides the limited range (it'll manage just 249km on the slow NECD combined cycle), what kind of emotional experience will it evoke sans the traditional motor soundtrack?

We'll let you be the judge of that after watching this video showing the SLS Electric Drive tackling the Ascari circuit in Spain.
