Paris Motor Show - The Nissan Pulsar Nismo Concept is all show and no tell, but it does at least reveal that the Japanese carmaker has its sights firmly set on the hot hatch market.

No tell? Well, Nissan has yet to divulge any mechanical specifications or give any clues in that regard but there are rumours flying around that the Nismo boys have cooked up a version of Nissan's 1.6-litre turbopetrol engine that produces around 180kW.

Nissan also used the Paris Motor Show to announce a more powerful version of the regular Pulsar hatch, the Golf rival now offering the Nissan Juke's 140kW/240Nm 1.6-litre DIG-T 190 engine.

Back to the Pulsar Nismo Concept, the sporting division has expended considerable effort in giving the Pulsar a lot more visual attitude. The aerodynamic body kit includes a new front bumper with large air intakes, deeper side skirts, widened wheel arches, diffuser-style rear bumper, carbon fibre rear spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels.

To help harness all that extra power that Nissan does not want to talk about right now, the Nismo concept also has 'race honed' (and lowered) suspension and a modified steering system.

More details will follow "in due course" Nissan promises.
