Porsche has been hyping up its return to Le Mans in 2014, with a new hybrid LMP1 car and a team of immensely talented drivers led by former Red Bull driver Mark Webber, by digging out dramatic footage of historic race cars and the heroes who drove them for a series of videos.

This one features iconic Belgian Jacky Ickx, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans an impressive six times in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Three of those wins - 1976, 197 and 1981 - came in the 397kW turbocharged, flat-six 936-77 Spider and the last, in 1982, in a 956.

But the 936 Spyder remains a favourite of Ickx's.

"It's difficult to find a Porsche racer that's not a legendary car," he once said, "but the 936… that's a special one."

Just to keep it in the family, Ickx's daughter Vanina, who shares her father's tiny stature and million-volt grin but is otherwise much better looking, has also raced seven times in the Le Mans 24 Hours, with a best finish of seventh in 2011.
