The rear-wheel drive Subaru BRZ coupé and its Siamese twin the Toyota 86 have commanded quite a following since being unleashed into the world, but fans have also been crying for more power.

Sadly that cry remains to fall on deaf ears, at least for now, and even the latest iteration of Subaru's BRZ looks faster without providing any more go.

Unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney this week, the BRZ is fitted with a concept sports kit designed by Subaru's STI division.

Subaru Australia's MD Nick Senior says the kit comes as a result of owners wanting to add some “performance touches” to their cars. Perhaps they should spend more time analysing the word “performance” though.

Nonetheless, the modified BRZ does add some tasty visual touches to the mix, including spoilers for the front, side and boot lid, black 17-inch alloys, rear under diffuser and some interior mods like a 'quick shift' gear knob and a start button. Handling is also improved by the fitment of a modified coil spring set.

Subaru South Africa is still trying to bring the BRZ to South Africa, but is currently facing international supply hurdles.
