Johannesburg - Suzuki's plucky little Jimny has earned itself a big a following among off-road adventurers who appreciate its ultra-compact dimensions.

It's certainly the most off-road capable compact SUV on the block and though it is really getting on in life, Suzuki has just widened its appeal with a few subtle upgrades and an automatic gearbox option for those wanting to climb boulders the easy way.

In keeping with the Jimny's old-school appeal, the autobox is a four-speed unit and thankfully is still paired with a transfer case offering low range operation.

As before, the Jimny is powered by a 1.3-litre petrol engine that delivers 63kW and 110Nm, for a claimed 14.1-second 0-100km/h run and 140km/h top speed.

For 2015, the Jimny's exterior gets a slight freshening in the form of new 15-inch alloy wheels with a dark silver finish and there are two new colour on offer, namely Khaki Pearl Metallic and Bison Brown and both are sure to put you in the mood for some bundu bashing.

The interior also gets a minor makeover complete with a new instrument cluster, redesigned steering wheel and new seat trim that's said to be more comfortable and durable.
