Suzuki has given its 1.2-litre Swift hatch and DZire sedan models a little refresh inside and out.

The out part of it includes revised front end styling that differentiates the hatch and sedan models, the latter gaining a larger grille with a chrome strip as well as new headlights. A new range of colours is on offer too.

The sedan sees the biggest cabin alterations, with that horrid beige colour scheme making way for those dark grey hues that South Africans much prefer. The Swift 1.2 models also gain 60:40 split rear bench seats and range-topping GL models now have Bluetooth connectivity as standard.

Beneath the bonnet, engineers tinkered with the Swift's 1.2-litre normally aspirated petrol engine to improve (official) average consumption by 7.1 percent to 5.3 litres per 100km in the case of the manual model. As before the engine produces 62kW at 6000rpm and 115Nm at 4000rpm.

Produced in India by the company's Maruti Suzuki division, the 1.2-litre Swift models are still among the lowest-priced B-segment vehicles on the market, with prices ranging from R131 900 to R160 900.
