As a tribute to iconic German coachbuilder Karmann, which was bought out by the Volkswagen Group in 2009, VW has released this special-edition Golf Cabriolet Karmann - available, unfortunately, only in Germany.

There, however, you can order this superb roadster with any of the standard Golf diesel or petrol engines, starting wit the 77kW 1.2-litre TSI at €27 275 (R386 250).

SUBTLE STYLING TOUCHES

These include exclusive badging, special 17" rims, extra chrome trim on the foglights, grille and lower intake, and in the cockpit, with dark grey door panels in brushed aluminium and branded sill-plates.

There's leather on the steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake, with grey contrast stitching, while the centre panels of the seats are trimmed in black alcantara and the bolsters in tan-coloured, textured fabric.
