Nurburgring organisers are hopeful again that they can stage the German Formula One Grand Prix as planned, according to the managing director of the Capricorn Nuerburgring GmbH (CNG), Carsten Schumacher.

“We have made an offer to Mr (Bernie) Ecclestone and are waiting for his decision,” Schumacher told the Motorsport aktuell paper in an interview made available ahead of Tuesday's publication.

Schumacher said that Germany and F1 were both interested in making the race happen, and that the CNG was ready to make a financial loss in the interest of the region and the fans.

“We have made an offer in which Formula One organises the German GP and therefore also gets all profits,” Schumacher said.

The F1 boss Ecclestone had recently sent mixed signals whether the race scheduled for July 19 could go ahead at Nurburgring as planned or in Germany at all.

Nurburgring and Hockenheim are alternating as hosts since 2008. It is Nuerburgring's turn this year but financial problems of the organisers cast doubts over the race. Hockenheim also ran up a deficit last year.
