Johannesburg - Selfies of Nicci Redelinghuysdriving on KwaZulu-Natal’s N3 highway earlier this week went viral on Tuesday evening on Twitter and Facebook.

The selfies were reposted hundreds of times on social media platforms.

In the photo which she posted on Facebook, Redelinghuys wrote: “So yesterday I was driving on the N3 trying to take a selfie. lol. I kept looking at the camera and forgetting to watch the road! But I guess I finally I got it kind of right! I still look scared as s***.”

Despite the photo going viral and Redelinghuys being criticised, the Durban student was not sorry for her actions.

Yesterday, she posted a second selfie with the caption: “Lol b****** be b******. Some ppl don’t understand that I drive like a pro!!! Thanks to dad 3 times champion.”

With 287 deaths reported on the roads over the Easter weekend, the KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department described her actions as irresponsible and reckless.

Twitter users expressed anger and disgust at what she had done.

@Justice4u2c said: “Nicci Redelinghuys who admitted driving on N3 yesterday taking a selfie and not watching the road should be charged for reckless driving.”
