Is this the most ridiculous Christmas present of the year? It may seem like the work of a joker (kapow!), but this replica Batmobile is the real deal. On sale in the UK from firebox.com, it is based on the original driven by Adam West in the 1960s TV series.

Made of fibreglass and with a 209kW V8 crate engine from GM, a very expensive paint job and leather seats, you can cruise the streets of Gotham City in style on your search for baddies.

And when you find them? The car also has a fully-functioning 'rocket exhaust flamethrower' that blasts out a fireball at the touch of a button.

It’s not a bad performer in the real world, with the company claiming a 0-96km/h time of five seconds, but disappointingly for budding crimefighters the top speed is limited to 144km/h.

Then there's the matter of the cost, which is a bat-brained R1.3-million. All this before you've even considered that your costume crusader capes don't come all that cheap either.
