Looks like it'll be a case of more reruns for Top Gear fans this year as Jeremy Clarkson has announced that, besides a Christmas special, the next new episodes will only air in the UK in January next year, which no doubt means an even longer wait for South Africans.
In a radio interview, Clarkson told Sasha Martinengo that the only time himself, James May and Richard Hammond would work together this year was at the Top Gear Festival in Durban this June.
As for the TV show delay, Clarkson displayed the crass humour that we love him for by taking a stab at Simon Cowell's show:
“Sunday nights will be full of fat people singing. Top Gear is a medium size van. Cowell is a juggernaut. When he has finished his singing competition, our new series will start.” Not that the world's richest motoring journalist could call himself much of a beanstalk.
The Top Gear star confirmed the delay on Twitter: “There's a rumour in internet land that there will be no more Top Gears this year. I'm afraid that apart from an Xmas special, it's true.”
