Pretoria - A Train shuttle will continue to operate between Pretoria & Hatfield until power is fully restored to the lines, Gautrain confirmed on its Twitter page @TheGautrain on Tuesday morning.

On Monday Gautrain spokeswoman Kesagee Nayager confirmed that repairs to restore full Gautrain services between the Pretoria and Hatfield stations were still under way.

"At the moment there are no updates. Commuters are being ferried between Hatfield and Pretoria stations by a train shuttle, which only operates between the two stations," Nayager said, adding that bus shuttles would be utilised if the need arose.

"Technicians are still busy repairing the tracks," she said.

An accident occurred on Saturday morning when the driver of a truck with a cement mixer lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence in Loveday Street.

The truck went through the barrier, over the Gautrain tracks and came to a stop after crashing into a second barrier.

The truck driver sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital.
