Richard Hammond will be coming to the Top Gear Festival in Durban after all.

When details of the June festival were unveiled to the media earlier this year, journalists wanted to know why Hammond would not be joining Jeremy Clarkson and James May. They were told that it was because he had other commitments.

But now Hammond has rearranged his schedule to join his driving buddies and co-presenters in Durban for a second year of fun.

“When I discovered the Top Gear Festival in Durban was going to be bigger and better and more explosive than ever, there was no way I could miss it.

“I certainly didn't want The Oaf and The Bore to have all the fun. So, see you there!” he said last night.

The 2013 event brings a brand new layout for the Top Gear Festival Street Circuit, allowing greater overtaking possibilities and improved viewing when visitors watch hot laps by former World Formula 1 champion Mika Häkkinen.

Visitors can also look forward to some zany antics by the Top Gear presenters, Top Gear Challenges and tons of hotly contested racing action.

It all gets underway at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on June 16. Want to know more? Visit the festival's official website: www.topgearfestival.co.za
