Wolfsburg - Germany, they say, has the most devoted Trekkies this side of California, so this TV commercial for VW's future-focused e-mobility programme seems appropriate.
And you don't even have to understand German to appreciate the look of wonder on the young fan's face as he realises the E-Golf is being driven by William "Captain Kirk" Shatner and the XL1 by Leonard "Mr Spock" Nimoy.
Just in case you've been stuck in the Romulan Neutral Zone for the past few cycles:
The E-Golf has an 85kW/270Nm electric motor powered by a 24kWh battery pack that Wolfsburg Command says is good for up to 190km, while the XL1 plug-in hybrid combines a 35kW two-cylinder turbodiesel with a 20kW electric thruster and gets its name from the fact that it uses less than a litre of diesel per 100km in the combined cycle.
The playlist includes footage of Shatner and Nimoy enjoying themselves on the set, as well as Shatner giving the youngster a guided tour of the Star Trek memorabilia collected for the shoot.
