Johannesburg - This year’s edition of the Top Gear Festival which was originally planned to be held in Durban, will instead be staged at The Dome in Northgate.

Organisers made the shock announcement on Monday that the popular event would not be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium as originally scheduled for 13 and 14 June, but were quick to re-launch the show at the Gauteng venue where it was first held in 2008. Now officially billed as Top Gear Live, instead of Top Gear Festival because the racetrack and other exterior elements of the Durban stadium are not possible, the show will return to its original format as an action-packed 90-minute arena show, set to happen over the same weekend, from 12-14 June.

CALAMITOUS MUCKING ABOUT

Again to be hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, Top Gear Live brings to life a combination of calamitous mucking about and some of the world’s most incredible cars, and puts them on show for fans of the Top Gear television programme to see in person.

Further details, including an announcement of an international superstar guest, will be made in coming weeks and tickets are set to go on sale on March 20. - Star Motoring
