Woking, Surrey - This is the official 'portfolio' of McLaren's 675LT 'Longtail' coupé, the most performance-focused street-legal model in the company's Super series.

It's also the most aggressive in visual terms, from its extended splitter through to the active airbrake - half as big again as the one on the 650S - that gives it its name. And it's all made of carbon fibre; the 'Longtail' wing is actually lighter than the one on the 650S.

There's a lot more of the light stuff in the body panels, along with a titanium exhaust system; even the aircon has been removed, although you can ask for it as a no-cost option. All of which helps reduce the car's kerb weight by more than 100kg to just 1230kg.

The 3.8-litre turbopetrol V8 has been seriously tweaked with new, more efficient turbos, upgraded cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, hotter cams, lightweight con-rods, and a high-flow fuel pump and associated plumbing - which tells you fuel economy is not a major concern on this car!

PERFORMANCE-ORIENTATED

The result is a howling 497kW at 7100 revs and 700Nm from 5500-6500rpm, giving it a quoted power-to-weight ration of 404kW per ton. 100km/h comes up in less than three seconds from standstill, 200km/h five seconds later and, given enough room, it'll top out at 330km/h.

The cabin is similarly performance-oriented, offering little more than a pair of carbon-fibre-shelled bucket seats (modelled on those in the P1) upholstered in alcantara synthetic suede, with subtle 675LT logo on each head restraint and another on the rev counter.

There's no provision for air-con controls, so if you do ask for it the controls are incorporated in the touch-screen infotainment system.

The McLaren 675LT will make its global debut at the on Tuesday 3 March at the Geneva motor show.
