No two people define the British slang term 'boy racer' the same. Some refer to anybody driving a car whose sound system and paint job are both louder than the engine as a 'boy racer' - even if the worst thing they've ever done is a coupe of tyre-shredding late-night doughnuts in a deserted car park.

SOFT TARGETS

Others focus on illegal street racers who slice through the traffic in heavily modified hatchbacks, putting other people's lives in danger as well as their own, while the easiest targets are still the thousands of petrolheads who descend on huge car festivals all over the UK to get absolutely trashed and have their photos taken with the scantily-clad promo girls.

This gritty documentary by video-maker Vice shows how different - and how fragmented - UK car culture is, compared to the high-octane, performance-orientated street racers depicted in the American 'Fast and Furious' films.
