Johannesburg -

The ANC wished Zimbabwe well on Tuesday ahead of its elections.

“These elections are a critical milestone in the implementation of the global political agreement of 2008 that sought to resolve the impasse following the last elections that were marred by violence,” African National Congress spokesman Jackson Mthembu said in a statement.

“The ANC therefore wishes the people of Zimbabwe successful and peaceful elections....”

Mthembu said the ANC hoped the government elected would be based on the free will of the people and that there would be no interference.
