Polokwane - Julius Malema has challenged the government and African leaders gathering at the AU summit in Sandton to protect Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir from “the imperialist” International Criminal Court.

The EFF leader slammed the ICC as a court created only for blacks and not for Western leaders.

Speaking on Sunday at the launch of the national EFF student command at the University of Limpopo, Malema said the ICC should not arrest Bashir.

“Let us test the ANC’s love for Africa. The imperialist ICC has instructed them to arrest Bashir. We’re testing the African leaders; we’re challenging them to protect Bashir,” said Malema.

He

said the EFF did not endorse Bashir’s alleged crimes.

“Once we’ve defended him, we must subject him to African justice,” he said.

He also slated the ICC, saying it had turned a blind eye to the “atrocities” committed by former US president George W Bush and former British prime minister Tony Blair.

Malema labelled President Jacob Zuma and FW de Klerk – the last president to preside over the apartheid government – as murderers.

“Zuma killed our people in Marikana. Zuma is a white man, he doesn’t like black people.

“Why is the ICC not issuing a warrant of arrest for De Klerk? De Klerk is sitting here despite the fact that he has massacred our people,” Malema added.

He went on to say the EFF was the government in waiting and suggested that no self-respecting person would vote for the ANC.

Those who voted for the ruling party used their emotions instead of their brains, Malema.

“A self-loving individual would never use the heart, they use the brain,” he said.
