Boston -

Boston's second snowiest season on record has dumped 2.7 metres of the white stuff on the region, narrowing many streets to one lane and causing airport and traffic chaos.

But it also inspired one family to build an igloo with four rooms, windows and 1.8-metre high ceilings in the Roslindale neighbourhood of the east coast city.

“We're never going to get this much snow again,” said McGaff, who has an engineering background.

“It's like being a kid all over again!”

The interior is decorated with Christmas lights and cushions for gatherings.

The igloo can accommodate a dozen people, according to The Boston Globe newspaper.

The weather forecast for the week ahead calls for temperatures to move above freezing for the first time in weeks, which could reduce the igloo to a puddle.
