Montreal - A Canadian man is suing a Montreal area hospital over a botched surgery that left his penis one inch shorter, claiming it ruined his sex life and his marriage, media said on Friday.

The man, whose identity was withheld by Sun Media, told the newspaper chain he had been rushed to hospital in 2011 with a fractured appendage. The injury was sustained while having sex with his wife.

Surgery to correct the injury reportedly left a “permanent scar” on his penis and reduced its length by “about an inch” (2.5 centimetres).

The man claims he was unable to have sex for two years and his wife eventually walked out on him.

He is seeking Can$155 000 ($142 680 or about R1.5m) in damages for negligence and “indescribable anguish,” according to a statement of claim cited by Sun Media.

The allegations have not been proven in court. - AFP
